“BDW Political Beast”: Bart De Wever im Kino [VIDEO]

In “BDW Politiek Beest” Bart De Wever, leader of the Flemish party N-VA, is the main character. The documentary is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 13th.

The film shows how the current government leader and possibly future prime minister experienced the last five elections and became the most powerful politician in Belgium.

Bart De Wever, who debates on the television screens with the leader of the PS, Paul Magnette, or the outgoing Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Open VLD). Bart De Wever, discovering the results of the June 9th elections and exclaiming: “The Vlaams Belang has lost? This is one of the biggest turning points in the political history of Flanders.”

Hugs, moments of doubt, media chaos, emotional looks, political jokes, “if I eat too much sugar, I turn into Gaston Eyskens”: you can find all of this in the film “BDW Politiek Beest”.

The documentary, produced by Kinepolis Film Distribution, will be shown in Belgian cinemas from November 13th. The trailer was posted online on Monday (see VIDEO below). The film was made by Paul Jambers, the only journalist who had the opportunity to film De Wever behind the scenes on election day.

Ten years ago, 79-year-old Jambers was allowed to enter the N-VA command headquarters. He was allowed to do this again in the following five elections. He shows that in the film. The journalist captured Antwerp’s strongman as he went through a rollercoaster of emotions on election day. His camera never leaves his side. “A political animal feels the politics, that cannot be explained,” explains the government builder, who, if successful, will soon be prime minister of an “Arizona coalition” (N-VA, MR, Vooruit, CD&V and Les Engagés).

“Politics is his life, everything has to be in it. The events are seen through the eyes of Bart De Wever, he is the subject and at the same time the protagonist of an exciting story,” says the official introduction of the film.

The premiere will take place on November 12, 2024 at the Kinepolis in Antwerp. The next day the film will be shown in the various Kinepolis branches in Belgium. (cre)
