BCR: Credit increases 6.4% yoy in August 2022

The Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported that credit to the private sector – which includes loans from banks, finance companies, municipal and rural savings banks and cooperatives – continued to grow from a year-over-year expansion rate of 6, 3% in July at a yoy rate of 6.4% in August 2022.

The issuing entity indicated that in August there was a greater year-on-year expansion of loans to individuals to 17.2% in August, up from 16.6% in July.

The BCR indicated that the increase in business credit, without considering the Peru Reactive Program, increased by 11.3% in August compared to the same month of the previous year.

In this context, the segments that register a higher rate of expansion are small and micro enterprises, with an interannual rate of 18.8%, followed by enterprises and large enterprises (12.1%) and medium-sized enterprises (1, 8%).

In monthly terms, the change in credit was -0.3% in August, corresponding to both a greater credit to individuals of 0.9% and a lower credit to businesses of 1%.
