According to a press release from the banking group, Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) and Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA) have signed the first contract for the use of the “Blockchain Payment Gateway” platform. This signing took place on the sidelines of the Tanger Logistics Days, reinforcing the commitment of the two entities to offer innovative payment solutions to players in the port ecosystem.
This strategic collaboration marks a major technological advance, with the successful integration of BCP’s “Blockchain Payment Gateway” into Tanger Med’s Blockchain platform, specially developed for the port and logistics sector. Payment transactions carried out via this new technology will offer increased levels of security and transparency, with immediacy in the execution of transactions. This not only ensures reliable monitoring of financial flows, but also reduces the risk of fraud and errors.
The initiative aims to extend this solution to a wide range of customers, including importers, freight forwarders and carriers. The press release underlines that it opens a new era for the Moroccan port logistics landscape, by optimizing both the efficiency of port operations and the national payment system.
During the official ceremony, Kamal Mokdad, Managing Director of BCP, declared: “This first operation is an important lever to accelerate the development of the port economy. The BCP group and Tanger Med Port Authority wanted to make blockchain a vector for strengthening the competitiveness and excellence of the Moroccan and regional port system. We are proud to have contributed to this technological advancement. »
