BCK starts distributing products to vulnerable citizens – 2024-04-06 06:57:24

In implementation of the Program for Food and Basic Material Support – Operation Support, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus, on April 3, 2024. The Bulgarian Red Cross begins the distribution at 5,281 tons foods that will reach over 618,000 vulnerable Bulgarian citizens. The food packages contain 15 types of products: oil, rice, flour, sugar, lentils, spaghetti, lutenitsa, jam, as well as 7 types of canned goods: green beans, ripe beans; tomatoes, peas; casserole, chicken fricassee and fish.

The one-term and the two-term families will receive one food package of total weight 10,890 kga families of three and larger – two food packages of total weight 38,470 kg.

15,518 beneficiaries have been determined for the Burgas region.

The distribution will be carried out by employees and volunteers of BCHK- Burgas in 13 temporary points throughout the district according to the schedule for each municipality and will continue until 07 June 2024 Every eligible citizen will receive the products they are entitled to against ID and signature.

FOR THE CITY OF BURGAS, THE GIVEAWAY WILL BE FROM APRIL 8 TO MAY 10, 2024, IN THE CITY OF BURGAS, 95 OBORISHTE STREET, WITH WORKING HOURS IN THE MORNING FROM 10.30 AM TO 12.30 PM; AFTER LUNCH FROM 1:30 PM TO 5:00 PM.

The lists of persons subject to assistance are drawn up and provided to the BRC by the Social Assistance Agency, which is also the Managing Authority of the Program for Food and Basic Material Assistance – Operation “Support”.

The detailed schedule for the distribution of the food packages under the Program is published on the websites of the BRC /www.redcross.bg/ and ASP /www.asp.government.bg/, and is also available in the regional offices of the BRC.

The food packages are intended for individuals and families supported on various grounds by the “Social Assistance” directorates and include the following categories:

  1. Persons and families assisted under Ordinance No. RD-07-5 of 2008 on the terms and conditions for granting of targeted heating aid for the 2023/2024 heating season.
  2. Low-income earners per family member who receive monthly allowances for raising a child according to art. 8, para. 1 and 5 of the Law on Family Benefits for Children in the month of January 2024.
  3. Persons with more than 90% degree of disabilitywith a certain right to foreign assistance and low personal income from a pension, who receive monthly financial support under Article 70 of the Law on People with Disabilities in January 2024.
  4. Persons and families who receive monthly allowances for raising a child with a permanent disability in accordance with Art. 8e of the Law on Family Benefits for Children in the month of January 2024.
  5. Individuals and families who received one-time or monthly benefits intended for prevention and reintegration, raising a child with relatives and in foster families in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Regulations for the Implementation of the Child Protection Act in the month of January 2024.
  6. Individuals and families assisted with a one-time aid pursuant to Art. 16 of the Regulations for the Implementation of the Law on Social Assistance or on another legal basis, based on incidental circumstances in the month of January 2024.
  7. 7. Individuals or families with low incomes who were refused assistance under Ordinance No. RD-07-5 of 2008 on the terms and conditions for granting targeted assistance for heating for the 2023/2024 heating season, due to excessive differentiated income for heating or due to unfulfilled any of the other complex support conditions, which does not change their level of material deprivation.

Citizens can obtain detailed information from the responsible officials in the territorial structures of the Social Assistance Agency and in the regional offices of the BRC.
