Ahmedabad: The stadiums and schedule of the ODI World Cup, which India will host this year, will be announced during the World Test Championship final. India will host the World Cup in the months of October-November. The World Test Championship final will be held at the Oval in England from June 7. Before the World Cup, the BCCI is trying to complete things like renovating the stadiums and allocating funds for the same. A special committee will be appointed to oversee this. The announcement of this committee may be made after the IPL final. These decisions came from the BCCI’s special general body meeting held in Ahmedabad.
There has been severe criticism from fans on social media regarding the facilities in many stadiums in India. In this situation, it is imperative for the BCCI that the stadiums be renovated before the World Cup. Therefore, the idea is to assign the responsibility of each venue to the BCCI officials separately. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah stated that all the major metro cities of the country will be the venue of the World Cup.
Jai Shah, who is also the president of the ACC, said that the final decision regarding the venue of the Asia Cup cricket tournament will be taken only after the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council. The Pakistan Cricket Board is trying to hold the tournament in a hybrid model, but the BCCI has not taken a favorable stand for it. After the BCCI decided not to play in Pakistan, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi proposed that only India’s matches be held at neutral venues and other teams’ matches be held in Pakistan. But BCCI’s position is that this is not practical. It has now been decided to hold the Asia Cup in September.
