This morning it was announced that the chain is faltering and has requested a deferral of payment due to ‘continued and increasingly difficult market conditions’. Earlier today, RTL Z spoke with Naomi, who was told by customer service that no returns will be accepted.
High emotions
More customers will hear this in the coming days. And that can cause unpleasant situations in the stores, BCC predicts. CEO Caspar Klinkhamer explains: “When it comes to electronics, it involves expensive purchases. And with matters such as returning or returning purchases during a moratorium, emotions sometimes run far too high.”
Together with the administrator and branch managers, it has now been agreed to first provide security, Klinkhamer confirmed after reporting from Nu.nl.
Of BCC’s 55 stores, 42 were closed after the news today. According to Klinkhamer, this does not mean that acute threatening situations had arisen in all those stores. He calls the closure a precautionary measure. “Safety comes first in such a situation.”
More stores will gradually open in the coming days and it is expected that all branches can be visited again on Monday.
Distribution center blocked
After the news about the suspension of payments, some transport operators also temporarily blocked a distribution center in Almere from which BCC operates, reported Broadcasting Flevoland.
According to the BCC CEO, this involved several hired carriers who had done jobs for the chain and were therefore creditors. “They wanted to seize to eliminate their creditor position, but it doesn’t work that way. Then you report yourself to the administrator,” says Klinkhamer.
