BBVA workers concentrate against layoffs that could lead to the closure of ten offices in Alicante | Radio Alicante | Present

90% of the staff of BBVA Alicante has seconded this morning with a rally at the doors of the branch of the Rambla la strike day summoned throughout Spain and the national protest against layoffs announced by the bank.

Dismissals that would affect 107 staff of 600 workers in the province and that, they estimate, can lead to closure of a dozen offices.

The staff does not understand the ERE announced by the company when in the first quarter it has collected 1,200 million euros in profits and the increase in remuneration for the top management has been approved, explains Santiago Pons, delegate in Alicante.

“The bank is not giving everything it could because of the way it wants to point out, preventing the full voluntariness of the people who are going to leave,” Pons lamented in statements to Radio Alicante

A closure that, they also remember, would mean that some populations can be left without their bank reference.
