Within the framework of the 27th Lima Film Festival, the BBVA Foundation will receive recognition for its 50 years contributing to the sustainable development of the nation by supporting the main educational and cultural initiatives for the benefit of the country.
During this half century, the BBVA Foundation has supported activities in the cinema, plastic arts and theater. Its presence stands out in events of national importance such as the Lima International Book Fair, the Hay Festival and, of course, the Lima Film Festival. The commitment made has made it possible to overcome all kinds of setbacks, including holding the festival during the pandemic. The BBVA Foundation devoted all its efforts to supporting this cultural work and guaranteeing access to the greatest number of people.

The Lima Film Festival takes place from Thursday, August 10 to Friday, August 18, with the presentation of 34 Latin American films in competition. During the opening ceremony, the film “La muralla verde” (1970) by Armando Robles Godoy will also be screened.

The BBVA Foundation began its activities in 1973 under the name of Edubanco, always with the aim of contributing to the sustainable development of the country by supporting educational and cultural initiatives.
Later, under the names of the BBVA Continental Foundation and now the BBVA Peru Foundation, the efforts are aimed at promoting access to education and culture and thus creating opportunities for people in their personal and professional development. From 2007 to date, the reading comprehension program Leer es estar adelante has benefited more than 140,000 children, approximately 5,000 teachers in more than 1,000 public schools in less favored areas of the homeland.
