Bengaluru: A special app is ready to book playgrounds under the corporation. BBMP said that within a month, they will prepare a system to book and use the playgrounds using the app and pay the rent through the app. Special Commissioner Munish Moudgil informed.
At present, the responsibility of running such playgrounds lies with the recognized clubs in their respective areas. However, the corporation does not get the full income from renting out the playgrounds. The corporation’s assessment is that the problem will be solved with the implementation of the app.
It is estimated that around 500 small and big playgrounds are under the corporation. Earlier it was found that these were being rented out to various sports teams and associations without giving receipts and recording the accounts. Once the new system is ready, the corporation will get the entire rental income.
At the same time, there is an allegation that the corporation will directly take over the booking of the stadiums, which will adversely affect the activities of the clubs. Most of the stadiums are owned by small clubs. Such clubs, which do not receive much help from the government, are running on income from renting out the playing fields.
The clubs want a separate amount to be allocated for day-to-day expenses if the pitches are fully taken over.
