The English channel BBC is reportedly working on a series adapted from the story of Bible John, one of the country’s most famous serial killers, whose identity still remains a mystery today.
For several years, fiction about serial killers has been on the rise. It must be said that in 2022, Netflix created an event with Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a series created by Ryan Murphy which broke all records. It is therefore not surprising that each channel and platform has its own series or film about a famous serial killer.
According to exclusive information from Deadline, it is now the BBC’s turn to embark on the adventure. The English channel is in fact developing a series around Bible John, one of the country’s most famous serial killers who has unfortunately never been identified.
This series, the title of which has not yet been revealed, will be produced by Buccaneer Media (Les incandescentes). Nick Stevens, who notably worked on The Pembroke Murders, was originally supposed to write the scripts but he no longer seems attached to the project.
Who is Bible John?
Nicknamed because of his repeated quotations from the Bible, and for having condemned adultery among his last victim, Bible John is said to have murdered three young women – Patricia Docker, Jemima MacDonald and Helen Puttock – between 1968 and 1969 in Glasgow, England. Scotland. He met his victims at the Barrowland Ballroom, a village hall in the town.
He was never found, although several suspects were associated with the case, including serial killer and rapist Peter Tobin. This hypothesis was ultimately refuted thanks to DNA evidence.
Like Jack the Ripper, Bible John is one of the most famous serial killers whose identity is still unknown. The case has made headlines again in recent years on the 50th anniversary of the murders. The BBC notably released a 4-episode podcast in 2022 entitled “Bible John: Creation of a Serial Killer”, which explores the lives of the three victims. This podcast also prompted the police to re-examine the case.
