Garth Crooks has advised Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli to ‘stay away from José Mourinho’ amid speculation about a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino appears poised to take over in the French capital as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

And according to The Sun, the Ligue 1 team is in advanced talks with the Argentine to take over, and wants the Tottenham striker as their first signing.

Alli has had a torrid moment with Mourinho this season, managing just 75 minutes of Premier League football.

The Portuguese gave Alli a rare opportunity to impress in the League Cup win over Stoke City on Wednesday, but publicly threw him under the bus after his mistake led the Championship team to draw.

And former Lilywhites hitman Crooks has told BBC Sport that it is “vital” for the English international to leave North London and, more importantly, to leave Mourinho.

He said: “Well, in light of Thomas Tuchel’s departure and the prospect of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino taking over, I would be very surprised if Alli was not his first signing. The vital thing is that Alli has to get away from Mourinho and do it now ”.

Alli is clearly a much better player than he has been able to show with Mourinho lately.

Really, his form has been pretty poor for most of 2020 despite some early promises under the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss.

And Crooks is right: if Pochettino wants it, he’d be crazy if he said no in light of his struggles in England right now.
