BB MEDIA | Global success of Turkish productions in entertainment

How accessible is Turkish content globally? Turkish productions are most accessible in the EMEA region, especially in Germany, which stands out with a total of 711 titles available. The United States follows closely with 564 titles in total, placing the UCAN region (United States and Canada) as the second region with the highest availability of content.

The growth in demand for Turkish productions in various regions demonstrates the international appeal of its stories, which range from intense dramas to passionate soap operas, finding loyal fans in markets as diverse as Latin America, Europe and beyond.

Among the Turkish platforms, Talk TV currently leads with the largest selection of content, as 93% of its total catalog consists of series and films produced in Turkey. Launched last year, Of course, the global streaming service owned by TRT (The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation), ranks second in Turkish content offering, closely followed by Gain. Among the three platforms, Gain stands out in terms of original content. It is the only streaming service with a balanced catalog, offering 52% original titles and 48% non-original titles. In contrast, Of course offers exclusively non-original content, and the catalog of Talk TV includes only 3% original content.

In terms of the genre offering of Turkish productions, a clear pattern emerges across the major platforms. Comedy and drama dominate as the top two genres across all three platforms. Romance also ranks highly, ranking among the top three genres in the Puhutv and Tabii catalogues, and in the top five in the offering of Gain.

Excluding Turkish platforms, Netflix and Prime Video dominate as the top two platforms with the most Turkish content available across all regions. However, the third position varies by region. Fios On Demand and D Smart-Go secure their positions in UCAN and EMEA, while Claro TV+ and Watcha prevail in LATAM and APAC, respectively. In terms of original content, Netflix leads with 30 films and 24 series of Turkish origin available.

The global popularity of Turkish productions is reflected in the diverse offering of these platforms, demonstrating that Turkish content continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
