celebritiesBaywatch actress Nicole Eggert has breast cancer. The 51-year-old actress initially thought that the complaints were related to menopause, she told ‘People’ magazine. Eggert played the role of Summer in the series ‘Baywatch’ from 1992 to 1994.
“It hurt terribly,” says the actress. “I immediately went to the doctor and she said I should have it looked at immediately.” The diagnosis of breast cancer was made fairly quickly, but Eggert does not yet know whether the cancer has spread. It is also not yet known whether the actress will start chemotherapy and radiation before or after surgery.
Eggert is especially concerned about her 12-year-old daughter Keegan. “I have a 12-year-old at home and I am the only one who takes care of her. I have no family, I have nothing,” said the actress. “It’s all very intense.” In addition to Keegan, she also has a 25-year-old daughter Dilyn.
Crowdfunding
A friend of the actress immediately started a crowdfunding on ‘GoFundMe’ to help with the medical costs. So far, 13,288 dollars, approximately 12,000 euros, have been raised of the goal of 100,000 dollars (+/- 91,500 euros). The page explains why Nicole needs help.
“As a single mother, she has had a hard time raising her two daughters financially,” it reads. “She has another little one at home and she is terrified that she will not be able to afford the treatments and operations required while also having to keep a roof over their heads. She has lost both her parents and has no family to lean on or help her with this situation.”
“Nicole has a long road ahead of her. Multiple expensive tests – CTs, MRIs, ultrasounds, etc. Multiple doctors – oncologists, surgeons, etc. Cancer treatments and medications. Her current insurance doesn’t even cover what she needs,” she added. “She’s always found a way to make ends meet, but this is different.”
