The jury of the prestigious US music award “Grammy” on Tuesday announced the names of this year’s award nominees, revealing that the largest number of awards – nine – is nominated by American pop star Beyonce.
Pop stars Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, as well as rapper “Roddy Ricch” have been nominated for six awards.
The 63rd annual Grammy Ceremony will take place on January 31 and will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah.
Bayoness’ song “Black Parade” has been nominated for the award “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year”.
Swift’s album “Folklore” is nominated for the album of the year, but the single “Cardigan” is nominated for the Song of the Year award.
Competitors in this category are “Black Parade”, as well as “Roddy Ricch”, last year’s winner Billy Eilish and rapper “Post Malone” songs.
Blues rock singer and songwriter Britney Howard, known as the soloist of the band “Alabama Shakes”, has been nominated for five categories after the release of her first solo album “Jaime”.
Justin Bieber has been nominated for an award in four categories of pop music, as well as for the first time in the country music award – for work on the country duo “Dan + Shay” song “10,000 Hours”.
Eilis, who won the most important categories at the last Grammy ceremony, has been nominated in four more categories this year. Rapper “DaBaby” has also been nominated for four awards.
For the first time, Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who has been nominated for four awards, is also nominated for the Grammy Awards.
It is not yet clear in what format the Grammy ceremony will take place.
Other awards ceremonies have been forced to select virtual formats in whole or in part due to pandemic constraints.
