The latest Bayonetta 3 rating includes some previously unknown plot details.
Last month, PlatiumGames shared the good news that Bayonetta 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 28(opens in new tab)(new tab). With the mentioned date approaching, the third part of the funny action series was recently classified in Australia. Thanks to the game’s page on the Australian ratings board’s website (opens in a new tab), we now have a few more details about the story. The following contains minor Bayonetta 3 spoilers, so if you’d rather find out for yourself, look away now.
According to the classification information, in addition to the game’s new enemies, the Homunculi, fans will also face a villain named “Singularity”. The Singularity is out to destroy worlds in typical bad-guy fashion, and Bayonetta will have to travel to the island of Thule to thwart his nefarious plans.
The full description reads: “Bayonetta 3 is an action-adventure game in which human characters travel through a series of fantasy environments where they battle monsters called Homunculi and an evil entity called the Singularity. Players must travel to an island called Thule to stop the Singularity from destroying the known worlds.”
In addition to the story delicacies, the rating also sheds light on the online elements of Bayonetta 3. The game will feature shared leaderboards that will allow you to “upload the results of individual chapters within the game.” There’s no mention of online multiplayer or co-op play in the witch’s third outing, suggesting that Bayonetta 2’s nifty co-op mode, Tag Climax, may not be returning.
The game is rated 15+, and as the ESRB rating(opens in new tab) previously revealed, it contains violence and partial nudity, which probably won’t surprise anyone. But this time there is an option to reduce nudity (opens in a new tab). “Naïve Angel Mode” keeps the game’s title character more hidden when he unleashes his most powerful moves.
