Watford, relegated to the Championship (English D2) at the end of the 2021-2022 season, has secured the services of Bayo Vakoun. The Ivorian international striker joined the Hornets from Charleroi where he had scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 16 matches.
Bayo signs a 5-year contract
Bayo has signed a 5-year contract with his new team, while the amount of his transfer is around 6 million euros (nearly 4 billion CFA).
“Since leaving the TFC, the Ivorian has clearly shown two totally different faces. The striker first sank by not scoring a single goal in the first legs in Belgium in Ghent before being loaned to Charleroi in the second part of the season and to impress everyone with 11 goals in 16 games. The Zèbres had logically exercised the purchase option at 1.5 million euros… before therefore selling it in stride and achieving a more -value”, commented the ultras of Toulouse FC, a former club of Bayo.
“At 25, Bayo Vakoun plays in his 7th professional club”
Trained at the Stade d’Abidjan, the Ivorian international (2 caps since 2018) discovers at the age of 25, his 7th club after Etoile du Sahel from Tunisia, DAC Dunajska Streda in Slovakia, Celtic Glasgow from Scotland, Toulouse FC in France as well as the Belgian formations of KAA La Gantoise and Charleroi.
At Watford, he mainly joins his compatriot Hassan Kamara who joined the club last season.
