The grandstand in the hall was well occupied for this top game. Almost the entire SV Bayer 08 men’s team also cheered on the women’s team. Both top teams in the Bundesliga currently have five national players each, who most recently secured joint participation in the European Championships in summer.
The hosts from Waldsee started strong, leading 3:1 after the first quarter. This lead could also be maintained until the end of the third period. Nevertheless, the game was tight, the tension was clearly noticeable in the hall. In the last quarter, the team from the capital not only had luck on their side, they were also better. In the end, the guests won 7:6 with a controversial penalty throw.

“I’m proud of my team, they played a very good game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t bring home a point because of a rather questionable decision at the end of the game. It’s a shame because the girls worked really hard and fought. It’s a message to everyone that we’re here,” said coach Triantafyllou.
