Playing in front of empty stands since March 2020 has hit Bayern Munich’s economy hard – something that will affect the squad building.
– We expect to have 150 million euros (about 1.5 billion kronor) less in revenue since March 2020, says Herbert Heiner to Bild.
However, you can count on some player additions.
– We will add players to the squad, but not make any expensive transfers, he says.
Bayern Munich can secure their ninth straight Bundesliga title this weekend – and Heiner is positive about the future despite the economic situation.
– We have a very strong, young team with enormous potential. With that in mind, I’m not worried, he says.
Major changes are still expected for the Munich team this summer. Coach Hansi Flick leaves and is replaced by Julian Nagelsmann, in addition, veterans Jerome Boateng, Javi Martinez and David Alaba are on outgoing contracts.
Defender Dayot Upamecano and English talent Omar Richards join.
According to reports, Nagelsmann wants to strengthen the squad in several positions.
– I also want the best squad, but the truth is that you have to finance it, says Heiner.
