Bayern start with victory in Wolfsburg

Munich. In a match full of alternatives, Bayern Munich ended up winning this Sunday at Wolfsburg (3-2) thanks to a goal from Serge Gnabry, in the first day of the German Bundesliga.

In Belgian coach Vincent Kompany’s debut in the Munich dugout in the German championship, the Bavarian giants dominated the first half and were rewarded with a goal from Jamal Musiala (20).

But the Munich side conceded a penalty seconds after the break, which Lovro Majer converted to level the score (47). The Croatian international put the home side ahead in the 55th minute, finishing off a counterattack that had been triggered by an error by Bayern’s South Korean defender Kim Min-jae.

Thanks to a proud reaction, the Bavarians equalised with an own goal by Jakub Kaminski (65).

Serge Gnabry scored the goal in the 82nd minute that was worth three points, allowing Bayern Munich to imitate Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning Bundesliga champions, who also won away from home (3-2) against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday.

RB Leipzig (1-0 against Bochum) and Borussia Dortmund (2-0 against Eintracht Frankfurt) also got their season off to a good start.

Bayern will host Freiburg, the Bundesliga leaders at the end of the first matchday, next Sunday.
