Tuchel is relying on the German international – and he is repaying the trust with extremely strong games this season. In conversation with the FC Bayern members magazine, 51the 27-year-old commented on the reasons for his recent appearances.
“I already had very good preparation under Thomas Tuchel. Everything felt very good. And then one thing led to another. My self-confidence became bigger and bigger, and with this self-confidence things just went better overall. The disappointing 2022 World Cup and the elimination in the Champions League quarter-finals also gave me extra motivation to ensure that this season will be more successful, as the bottom line is that 2022/23 simply wasn’t very satisfactory,” Sané revealed bluntly.

“Suddenly they say they’re not giving it their all”: FCB star Sané talks about criticism
At that time there was increasing criticism of the 27-year-old Bayern star’s performance. Afterwards, however, he remained focused on himself and on his abilities, Sané revealed in an interview with the club’s members’ magazine: “In critical phases, you always want everything to work out and win even more. It’s important not to tense up, otherwise you’ll have the opposite reaction: you’ll put too much pressure on yourself and it won’t work very well.”
Such phases are “sometimes misinterpreted publicly,” Sané continued. “Suddenly they say the boys aren’t giving their all, aren’t focused and so on. But you’re more likely to make the wrong pass if you’re too tense and want to get it right too badly. Basically, criticism is, first and foremost, a motivation for me,” said the 59-time German national player.

Not just on the pitch: Bayern ace Sané is “more mature in all areas”
Over the past few years, Sané has “grown up in all areas”. The 27-year-old said his private happiness also contributed to this: “I am now a father of two, which also makes you more mature,” he admitted 51.
The current season has so far gone according to Sané’s ideas, unlike the previous season. “I’ve been happy with my own performances lately,” he said, even though his expectations for himself are very high.

Sané felt special chemistry with Bayern’s Kane “even before the first game”
With summer newcomer Harry Kane, Sané seems to have found his congenial partner in the Bayern offensive. The chemistry between the two was right from the start, Sané told the club’s own media: “I noticed very quickly with Harry that it could be a really good fit. “It tends to happen even before the first game together,” said the DFB star.
“I have followed his career closely over the past few years and even played against him in the Premier League. He has been one of the best nines in the world for many years, with an incredibly high level of understanding of the game. “He knows exactly what makes me tick – and vice versa,” said Sané, explaining the basis for the outstanding interaction. “I also really like him as a person off the pitch,” he enthused about the Englishman.
