Often the fight on the transfer market seems resolute, cunning and only concerned with one’s own advantage, while transfer payments are thrown around that seem limitless. As the Spanish “MARC” now reports, when it comes to buying players there is also a togetherness and not just a conflict. It is said to be a kind of secret pact between the top international clubs, to which FC Bayern also belongs.
If a top clubs are at the top of the food chain, then they want to stay that way. However, achieving this goal is easier if you don’t go to war with one another, but rather shift the focus a little. Therefore, top clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid and FC Bayern are said to have committed to mutual respect. When looking for top-class new reinforcements, priority should therefore be given to the “2. League “are poached. In Germany this would be clubs like Borussia Dortmund or RB Leipzig, in England Leicester City and FC Everton or in Spain FC Sevilla or Athletic Bilbao.
The secret pact is supposed to curb “transfer madness”
Although this pact does not exclude transfers between the top clubs, it limits the scope. According to the “MARCA”, the clubs agreed a year ago not to stab each other in the back and to regulate the transfer activities internally. The aim should also be that the transfer fees do not skyrocket, as happened, among other things, with the transfers from Neymar or Mbappé. Although the clubs addressed are rivals, they are all pursuing the same goal. Therefore, a good relationship should be maintained.
Does the transfer pact already apply in practice?
Several examples show that the “Transfer Pact” actually works. For one thing, it would be Lionel Messi’s poker. When Barca made it clear they wanted to keep the churn superstar, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain stopped their efforts. David Alaba is a similar case. The first talks are said to have only taken place when FC Bayern announced that it would not offer the 28-year-old a new contract. A current topic here is also Sergio Ramos, who has not yet been able to agree on a new contract with Real Madrid. If things develop as with Alaba, it is likely that the Madrilenians will also give the green light to possible interested parties.
