Bayern reacts to Iniesta video

Andrés Iniesta doesn’t mention the word “end of career” – but he’s already being bid farewell by numerous companions. FC Bayern also reacts.

The former Spanish world and European champion Andres Iniesta has probably announced the end of his career. In a more than two-minute video that he published on social media, his former coaches Pep Guardiola, Vicente del Bosque and Louis van Gaal, among others, have their say. They all pay tribute to Iniesta’s achievements, character and talent.

However, the video ended with the words “El juego continua” (the game continues), linked to the date October 8th, 2024.

Afterwards, FC Bayern also reacted to Iniesta’s video on Monday evening. The German record champions posted a picture of the Spaniard in a duel with Bayern icon Bastian Schweinsteiger and wrote: “An extraordinary football career is coming to an end! All the best for your future, Andrés Iniesta!”

Football is saying goodbye to one of its legends. It was undoubtedly a pleasure to share a dressing room and a band with you, to get along so well in the national team and at Barça and to experience so many moments together. You are a great person and I am convinced that you will be spectacularly successful in this new phase of your life,” wrote Iniesta’s long-time companion Jordi Alba on Instagram. “The sport owes you a lot, Crack. Good luck with whatever is to come, my friend.”

In 2018 he left Barcelona and moved to Vissel Kobe in Japan, where he played with Lukas Podolski, among others. In August 2023 he moved to the United Arab Emirates to Emirates Club, where his contract expired at the end of June.
