According to Poland national team manager Paulo Sousa, Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski felt pain in his knee and will be checked out tomorrow by medical personnel. Lewandowski had a brace in Poland’s 3-0 victory over Andorra, but was substituted off in the 63rd minute.
Polish sports journalist Mateusz Ligeza tweeted a brief statement from Sousa that provided the information:
Paulo Sousa: Lewandowski felt a pain in his knee, tomorrow we will check if he is okay.#POLAND# łączynaspball
Simply put, Lewandowski’s presence on the Bayern Munich roster is vital. The Polish Hitman is not only the key cog in the Bavarians’ offense, but he is closing in on breaking Gerd Müller’s single-season goal-scoring record — which would be a massive personal achievement.
More, with a key Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig on Saturday April 3rd and a Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday April 7th, Lewandowski missing either one of those two fixtures could have terrible consequences for Bayern Munich’s title hopes in either competition.
