Munich. Bayern Munich crushed Unión Berlin 5-1 this Saturday, with Harry Kane’s 33rd goal in the Bundesliga, thus beginning in the best way their preparation for the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
Bayern, which lost the league title in Germany to Bayer Leverkusen last week for the first time since 2013, has 66 points with 30 games played.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have 13 points less than Leverkusen (79), who visit Borussia Dortmund on Sunday (5, 56 points), and three more than Stuttgart (3, 63 points), who will play on Sunday in the Werder Bremen field.
The Munich team opened the scoring through Leon Goretzka just before the half-hour mark. Then it was the Englishman Harry Kane who doubled the lead just before the break with a perfectly executed free kick 25 meters from the goal.
Kane has 33 goals this season in the Bundesliga, eight shy of the record in the German championship held by Robert Lewandowski (41), established in the 2020-2021 season. The former Tottenham player has four games left (against Eintracht Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim) to try to get as close as possible to that mark.
The Englishman also gave an assist to Mathys Tel (62). He has been involved, either defining or passing, in 51 goals this season, his personal record, better than the 50 in the 2020-2021 season with Tottenham.
Thomas Müller celebrated his 400th start in the Bundesliga with the Bayern jersey with a double (third goal in the 53rd minute and the last in the 66th minute).
