Jakarta –
Robert Lewandowski express a desire to leave Bayern Munich, said his career at the Allianz Arena was over. The Die Roten camp also responded to the 33-year-old striker’s remarks.
“I can not understand why he took this step. Statements in public will get you nowhere,” said the Bayern CEO, Oliver Kahn in an interview with Sport1.
“Robert became the best player twice in a row while here. I think he should know what he has at Bayern. Appreciation is not something that goes one way,” explained the former legendary German goalkeeper.
Previously, Lewandowski has made it clear that he no longer wants to stay in Bayern. This was stated in a press conference in the midst of preparations for the Polish national team to face the UEFA Nations League.
“My era at Bayern is over. I don’t see the possibility of continuing to play for this club,” said Robert Lewandowski, as quoted by The Guardian.
“Bayern are a serious club and I’m sure they won’t keep me. I don’t want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me,” he added.
Lewandowski’s contract runs until 2023. Bayern is known to be determined to keep him, even if it means having to lose the player for free next season.
According to Sport1, Bayern were annoyed with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, who said that Die Roten had not given a new contract to the owner of the seven Bundesliga top scorer titles. The defending German League champions admitted that they had made an offer.
Barcelona is currently eyeing Lewandowski relying on connections from Zahavi. It’s just that Bayern (if in the end they don’t have a choice) is considered not to be selling the striker at a cheap price.
Lewandowski’s public remarks appear to be a strategy to suppress Bayern. Hopefully, they get stuck and change their minds, although if you think about it, the position of the Bavarian team is stronger because they have a binding contract.
