A short season and then goes away. Philippe Coutinho (27) will leave Bayern Munich at the end of his € 8.5m paying loan. The German club, through the voice of its boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who spoke in the Der Spiegel, decided not to exercise the € 120 million purchase option from the Brazilian midfielder. He will therefore return to Barcelona, which also wishes to get rid of it.
The option has already expired, “And we didn’t lift it” explained the president of the Bavarian club, adding a clarification nonetheless. “Now we will have to complete the workforce planning internally and we will see if it will always have a role to play with us or not.” Coutinho has worn the Bayern jersey 32 times this season for 9 goals and 8 assists and is not expected to appear on German lawns as he is currently injured for approximately six weeks.
