Tokyo –
Coach Bayern Munich Thomas Tuchel revealed the reason his club didn’t make a permanent move João Cancelo. The decision apparently had nothing to do with football.
Cancelo on loan Manchester City to Bayern Munich during the second half of the 2022/2023 season. Overall the Portugal international left-back played 21 times with a contribution of one goal and six assists in all competitions.
Cancelo’s contribution helped Bayern win the Bundesliga for the eleventh time in a row. However, The Reds chose not to make Cancelo permanent so that the player now returns to Man City.

Whereas the Citizens are ready to lower the price tag João Cancelo from £62 million to just £34 million. However, Bayern did not want to redeem Cancelo.
Tuchel said, there were two reasons behind Bayern Munich’s decision. The main left-back Alphonso Davies, has recovered from the various injuries that have plagued him and the availability of Raphael Guerreiro for free after being released from Borussia Dortmund.
“Never for football reasons [di belakang kembalinya dia]. He’s a fantastic footballer,” said the former Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea coach Manchester Evening News.
“It’s just that we already have Alphonso Davies behind, he is fully recovered from injury and we decided to sign Raphael Guerreiro for free. So the decision was only a matter of position and finances.”
“Cancelo has helped us a lot during the half season he has played for us. He is a fantastic young man and a fantastic footballer. That is the reason.” Thomas Tuchel add.
