Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Driessen said that coach Thomas Tuchel will remain in his position until the next round match in the German Football League, despite the sudden 3-2 loss to its host Bochum yesterday, Sunday, as the team suffered its third defeat in a row in all competitions.
“Of course,” Dressen told reporters when asked if Tuchel would be the coach in next Saturday’s match against RB Leipzig.
He added, “I am not a fan of violent statements in support of the coach.” They usually expire after a week. But this (the coach’s future) is not an issue we are dealing with at the moment.”
He continued: “We have to focus on our next matches.”
The Bavarian team was eliminated from the German Cup and is ranked second in the league, eight points behind the lead, and lost 1-0 to its host Lazio in the first leg of the Champions League round of sixteen on Wednesday.
Bayern advanced against Bochum, but conceded twice at the end of the first half after fans stopped the match and threw tennis balls in protest against plans for foreign investment in the German League.
Dressen added, “This pause took us out of our rhythm.” Today was a victory for mentality over efficiency.”
