Bayern Munich Celebrate Eleventh Championship in a Row, But Sabotage Their Own Celebration with Poor Sportsmanship

FC Bayern Munich only showed their best side after their victory at 1. FC Köln. However, the record champions then gambled away this sympathy again.

Marc L. Merten reports from Müngersdorf

1. FC Köln had unofficially asked FC Bayern if they could imagine it. The signal was positive, but dependent on the master’s decision. When the bowl was back in Munich’s possession, the record champions’ players seemed to have forgotten the deal.

But then they actually broke off their championship celebrations. Almost the entire FC Bayern team lined up in the trellis on the pitch as Timo Horn and Jonas Hector celebrated. A big gesture from Munich, by no means a matter of course. Especially not that they stayed in the trellis until all the speeches had been held and the FC duo had been honored.

Bavaria between stylish and stylish

Only then did the Munich team withdraw, disappear into the dressing room and continue to celebrate their eleventh championship title in a row. Later, players like Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka posted photos with Jonas Hector, their former colleague from the national team, and said goodbye to the long-time FC captain. That had style.

Later, however, FC Bayern destroyed this positive impression. A video from the team bus became public. In it, the Bayern stars drove through Cologne and sang loudly, banging their hands against the panes: “Cologne, Cologne, the s*** from the cathedral!”

FC fans with a clear opinion

A video that was supposed to express what the Bayern stars thought of the whistles that hit them when the championship trophy was presented. From the chants from the south curve, which sounded for a long part of the 90 minutes and later: “Erster Deutscher Meister FC Köln”. And also from the fan friendship between the billy goats and Borussia Dortmund.

The GEISSBLOG says: In moments of great success or failure, true character is revealed. If you show respect to your opponent, you win more than just the sporting competition. Christian Keller said after such a strong FC game despite the defeat: “Sometimes you lose and you’re still a winner.” For Bayern, sometimes you win and you’re still a loser.
