Champion Bayern Munich and pursuer Borussia Dortmund suffered spectacular defeats on Saturday afternoon. While the Munich team lost 1:3 (1:2) at FSV Mainz 05 in the 32nd round of the German Bundesliga after a sometimes desolate performance, BVB scored a triple pack from striker Erling Haaland in a furious 3:4 (2:2 ) against VfL Bochum too little.
The promoted team from Bochum, who secured a three-pointer to stay up in the league, took the lead early on through Sebastian Polter (3rd) and Gerrit Holtmann (8th). Haaland meanwhile turned the game around with two penalties (18th, 30th) and his 61st goal in the 65th Bundesliga game (62nd). Jürgen Locadia (81st) and another hand penalty by Milos Pantovic (85th) made Bochum celebrate. Meanwhile, Haaland set another record, never before had a player scored 60 goals in the top German division as quickly as the 21-year-old Norwegian. Friedhelm Konietzka scored his 60th goal in his 76th game in 1966.
