“Bayer Leverkusen requests Bundesliga game postponement due to European success”

Leverkusen (dpa) – According to media reports, Bayer Leverkusen is pushing for a postponement of the Bundesliga game on matchday 31 against 1. FC Köln because of its own success in the European Cup.

The Werksclub wants to play the Rhenish derby on Friday, May 5th instead of Sunday, May 7th, first reported the “Kicker” and also the “Bild”. The semi-final first leg in the Europa League at AS Roma takes place on Thursday 11 May.

According to the reports, the German Football League and the broadcaster DAZN have already complied with Leverkusen’s request. Only the police can still prevent the transfer if there are security concerns about the derby on Friday evening, it said. The game between FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 (8:30 p.m.) is already scheduled for May 5th.
