Bay City Rollers: Les McKeown is dead. The singer was 65 years old

At the age of 65, Les McKeown, the lead singer of the most famous lineup of the Scottish group Bay City Rollers, died suddenly at his home. The formation’s greatest triumphs were in the 1970s.

Information about the singer’s death was confirmed by his former manager John McLaughlin.

“I am very sad and shocked, and so is Keiko, his wife. She called me from Les’s phone. I picked up because I thought he wanted to talk to me,” says the manager of the Daily Record.

“I spoke to him last week and he was in very good shape. He was very pleased to talk about life and the preparations for the tour. We were friends and colleagues,” he added.

Leslie McKeown he died suddenly in his home on April 20. Currently, his relatives have started preparations for the funeral.

The singer was one of the founders and members of the classic line-up Bay City Rollers. The greatest hits of the formation include, among others “Bye, Bye, Baby”, “Give a Little Love”, “Money Honey”, “Shang-A-Lang”, “Summerlove Sensation” and “I Only Want to Be with You”. In total, the group placed 10 singles in the top ten of the UK charts.

The band has sold over 120 million albums worldwide.

Brothers appeared alongside McKeown Alan i Derek Longmuirowie (bass and drums respectively) and guitarists Stuart Wood i Eric Faulkner. The singer left Bay City Rollers in 1978. He returned to a series of memorable concerts in 2015. He also has several solo albums to his credit.

Alan Longmuir died in July 2018.
