Safety Precautions at Baxter
It was already known in December that a corona vaccine was to be produced in Halle. Since then, the company has been keeping a low profile on the disclosure of information, probably for security reasons. The company had not announced the start of production a few weeks ago, nor the quantity of the vaccine produced.
Biontech: 2.5 billion doses of vaccine later this year
Baxter first processes the vaccines supplied by the manufacturers in such a way that they are finally ready for filling. We hear from the company that many employees have been hired for this purpose. Around 800 employees work at Baxter in Halle.
Biontech and its US partner Pfizer are aiming to expand their production capacity to 2.5 billion cans by the end of this year. The company announced this at the end of March. So far there has been talk of 2 billion doses.
In Germany since 1960
Baxter is a global company from the USA with almost 50,000 employees, 2,400 of them in Germany. There are a total of six locations here: in addition to Halle, there is also a plant in Bielefeld. The plant in Halle specializes primarily in the production of cancer drugs.
