These are the 2020 winners
The video of this year’s awarding of the Bavarian Pop Culture Prize by the Association for Pop Culture in Bavaria eV (VPBy) has been online on the VPBy channels on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram since December 13th. The four award-winners, Radio Z / Local Passions, Initiative Barrier-Free Celebrations, the Social Sofa Festival and the Posthalle Würzburg received their prizes in digital format.

Thanks to funding from the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art and München Ticket, they each received prize money of 2,000 euros. Art Minister Bernd Sibler emphasized on the occasion of the awarding of the Bavarian Pop Culture Prize 2020: “The rock and pop music scene in the Free State is an indispensable dazzling facet of the cultural state of Bavaria. With the Bavarian Pop Culture Prize, we honor the winners for their musical passion and great artistic commitment. You have contributed to ensuring that pop and rock music was heard even in this difficult year. I warmly congratulate all the award winners! ”. Numerous experts from the music industry and media as well as members of the state parliament from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, Free Voters, the SPD and FDP acted as jury.
In his laudation for the sustainability category, the district president of Middle Franconia, Armin Kroder, commented on the long-term commitment of Radio Z / Local Passions: “The station was born out of necessity at the end of the 80s absolutely indispensable today. ”He went on to explain his suggestion:“ This makes you an important multiplier of the Central Franconian music scene and also has a very important archiving function. The newly founded sub- and pop culture network Regensburg honored the winners in the category Festival of the Year: “At the beginning of the lockdown, the Social Sofa Festival was one of the first concert streaming offers.
