Bavaria-wide noise action plan completed

Under this directive, noise mapping must be carried out regularly every five years. And noise action plans must be drawn up. The fourth Bavaria-wide noise action plan has now been completed. It can be viewed on the Internet at www.umgebungslaerm.bayern.de. The government of Upper Franconia draws attention to this. The authority, based in Bayreuth, is responsible for the issue throughout the state.

What happens now?

The noise action plan also announces the results of the second phase of public participation in Bavaria-wide noise action planning. The associated noise mapping is available in the UmweltAtlas Bayern. In the following months, the government of Upper Franconia will advise the most affected municipalities on what measures can be taken locally to effectively reduce noise. The Federal Environment Agency collects all German noise action plans and forwards them to the European Union.

Why is there a noise action plan?

Its aim is to analyze existing noise problems with the participation of citizens and

  • to analyze and evaluate existing noise problems
  • to develop measures for effective noise reduction
  • to protect quiet areas from an increase in noise.

In Bavaria, the government of Upper Franconia is responsible for drawing up the noise action plan:

  • for main roads outside conurbations
  • for federal highways within conurbations.

This affects over 1,300 municipalities in Bavaria.
