Bavaria SR41 HT | YACHTREVUE.at

In late autumn 2021, the SR41 HT on the Main was ready for testing at the Bavaria Test Center near Giebelstadt. The second model in the new line, the SR36, was unveiled in the seminar room built on stilts, but is now afloat and will soon be scrutinized in the Adriatic.
But back to the SR41. It was the first new model after the takeover of Bavaria by CMP (Capital Management Partners) and marked a new start insofar as the virtues of the former sporty S line were sought to be combined with those of the comfortable R line in one model. That sounds like an impossible task, but it is definitely feasible due to the enormous advances in design. A wide, voluminous hull that can be driven extremely agile, planes quickly and cuts a fine figure in rough water? No problem nowadays. The Italian designer Marco Casali from Too Design and the in-house specialists from Bavaria implemented this in the SR41. Together they designed an underwater hull with a pronounced V drawn far aft and a stern with plenty of volume for quick planing. Incidentally, Casali drew the first flybridge yacht for Bavaria at the time, and he did it by hand. This design was astonishingly well known and the Italian still prefers to put his ideas on paper with pen; the computer is only used later.

Talent pool

As decisive as the hull design may be, a yacht is only successful if the cockpit design and interior layout are visually and ergonomically successful. The variability is particularly important and of course Casali & Co know that. The bathing platform plays a central role in the SR41. It extends the cockpit and creates a noticeably larger living space, and you also feel safer when sunbathing aft – a meter distance between the sunbathing area and the stern wave is incredibly calming. The bathing platform can be lowered for an extra charge, making it easier to get into the water. The sun lounger is a jack of all trades. Thanks to the variable backrest, it can mutate into a bench and then complements the seating area around the adjustable dining table in the cockpit. If you convert it into a U-bench with a small table, it is the top spot for a sundowner.
