Laureus: Bavaria nominated twice for sports Oscars

Another trophy for Bayern Munich?

The sextuple winner, led by coach Hansi Flick, has been nominated at the Laureus World Sports Awards in the “Team of the Year” category.

FCB has to prevail against Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool FC, among others. World footballer Robert Lewandowski could also win another award as Sportsman of the Year.

FC Bayern, Lewandowski and Mercedes hope for the Laureus Award

A total of three awards could go to Germany: In addition to Bavaria and its star striker, record constructors’ world champions Mercedes-AMG Petronas from Formula 1 and the KICKFORMORE initiative from Stuttgart and the Rhine-Neckar region have been nominated.

The Laureus Awards will be presented at the end of May, but there will be no big gala due to the corona pandemic, instead a virtual event is planned.

The nominees were selected by 1,000 journalists from the world’s greatest sports reporters. The winners will be determined by 69 sports legends from the Laureus Academy.
