Baudet thinks Forum is more vital than ever, despite internal blows

Forum for Democracy leader Baudet finds his movement “more vital than ever”. He said this during a general meeting of his party, which is being held digitally due to corona. Baudet further stated that the number of members continues to grow. He acknowledged that the party had “been hit internally”, but he says it is more necessary than ever to continue.

Baudet once again turned against “mass immigration”, “the power of the EU” and the climate plans. Baudet spoke of a “palette of trends undermining our civilization”. Furthermore, according to him, the corona measures are disproportionate to the severity of the virus.

At the end of last year, a crisis arose within Forum after fuss about anti-Semitic statements in the youth movement. Many candidate MPs dropped out. A number of them joined other groups, such as JA21 led by ex-LPF Member of Parliament Eerdmans.

Baudet himself initially withdrew as leader, but he changed his mind and in an internal referendum a large majority of the members rallied behind him.

Candidate list

But part of the Forum for Democracy meeting is public. The meeting is partly only open to members. The list of candidates for the House of Representatives elections and the election program are determined at the Forum meeting.

On the draft list, Member of Parliament Wybren van Haga is second. He is now also in the Forum fraction. Previously he was a member of parliament for the VVD, but that party expelled him from the fraction. Treasurer Olaf Ephraim comes third and the leader of the youth branch, Freek Jansen, is seventh.
