Batu City Flash Flood, 5 Drifting Residents Found Safe

Flash floods happened in Stone Town. The flood occurred after the city of Batu was hit by heavy rain.

The East Java BPBD together with the Batu City BPBD are still looking for residents who were reported missing. So far, there have been 5 people who were swept away who were found safe.

“Currently it is still in the search process. So far, we have found 5 residents who were swept away in a safe condition,” said Kalaksa BPBD East Java, Budi Santosa to detikcom, Thursday (4/11/2021).

In the data East Java BPBD received by detikcom, the 5 residents are Fainis (31), Linda Ariesti (36), Bayu Agung (17), Mukharul Janmah (22), M Arief Mudinanto (31).

“Five residents who were swept away and found safe are currently being treated at the Bumiaji Health Center,” he said.

Budi added, BPBD continues to try to find residents who are reported missing. So far, there have been no reports of residents dying as a result Flash floods. However, the Batu City BPBD said a total of 10 residents were reported not to be at home. It is not yet certain whether they were swept away by the flash flood or left without saying goodbye to their families and their whereabouts are unknown.
