Battlefront 2: A Slimmed Down Multiplayer Experience with Intense Single Player Battles

LucasArts’ multiplayer bangers have now joined the category ‘Well-known brands at any price for any system’ Battlefront 2. It’s just a pity that this originally primary game function has been slimmed down: Instead of exciting online skirmishes, there are now only network battles (WiFi) – and they are fought among just four Imperials, Separatists or Alliance members. For this, the single player battles have been intensified and broken down into bite-sized handheld morsels.

The new shots are just as short as they are crisp, but when you are deployed (sometimes on foot, sometimes on board a ground vehicle or space fighter) you are in the Star Wars-Galaxy alone on the move: Where whole armies of your colleagues fire from all guns on the large systems, only enemies scurry through the level here. On the other hand, the impressive range of modes has been preserved: Experience the war for power as a clone warrior, smuggler or resistance fighter and plunge into the battles before any film era. The conquest mode offers a hint of strategy: every game round, drag your fleet units over a cosmic map, throw yourself into the fray in conflicts and in this way conquer one system after the other for an alliance or empire.
