When Call of Duty: Warzone was unveiled, there were rumors that the rival saga of “Battlefield” could come with a free game mode, as would happen in the alternative version.
However, despite all the rumors, it appears that EA still has no plans to provide a free version of the title to players. Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, recently revealed during an interview that while it makes sense to apply the free-to-play format to the title, this will not be something the publisher plans on for the foreseeable future.
It’s not at all excluded for the future, but it’s unlikely that EA will implement it in the title for some time to come. According to the portal PlayStation Life Style, the CEO believes that the objective of the series is to reinvent the way the player puts himself in an action-war game, and the free-to-play model would not provide that experience.
One of the company’s successful examples is found in the long-awaited Battlefield 2042, which puts 128 players face to face in the Battle Royal format, and which the executive believes creates a competitive environment that generates player creativity, something that would not be possible in free format.
EA’s next step will be to develop “Battlefield Mobile”, focused on mobile devices, in order to try to reach even more players for the saga. Remember that Battlefield 2042 is scheduled to hit the market on November 12th.
