Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042: The Evolution and Impact of EA Anti-Cheat Technology

Battlefield V caused mixed feelings at launch, but over time it opened up. After the release of Battlefield 2042, love for the project only grew stronger

Battlefield V received mixed reviews at launch. Questions about the project arose even at the stage of the advertising campaign, when in the “serious shooter” about World War II, players saw elements that were very different from the setting.

However, over time, opinions about Battlefield V changed, and the DICE team still managed to restore order. Subsequently, Battlefield 2042 appeared, which went through approximately the same path (although the release version in this case was noticeably worse).

In 2024 DICE and Electronic Arts remembered again about Battlefield V and announced plans to update the protection system: starting from April 3 of this year, the shooter will have its own EA anti-cheat. Similar technology is currently used in Battlefield 2042.

As stated, with the transition of Battlefield V to a new anti-cheat, nothing will change for players, but cheaters will have problems: DICE will be easier to track violators and will be able to deal with them more effectively. This anti-cheat has a nuance – it works at the kernel level, which worries some users.
