BF5 is top 10 on Steam right now.
After a couple of gloomy years, things suddenly look bright for Battlefieldseries.
Battlefield V has been taking off like a rocket lately, and yesterday had 111,000 concurrent players on Steam. Record for the five-year-old game. The reason is probably Steam’s autumn sale, which reduced the price to just 4 euros, roughly 40 kroner. The game was only available on EA’s own service Origin (now the EA app) at release, but came to Steam a few years later. At the time of writing, it is Steam’s ninth most played title.
Even the initially reviled Battlefield 2042 having happy times on Steam. In October, Season 6 was released for the game, and it caused the number of players to explode. However, it must be said that the opportunity to try for free helped. At most, it was run by 107,000 players simultaneously on Steam, also a record. After that it dropped, but the game has still been at 30-50,000 players per day at its best. Right now it’s ranked #29 on the Steam chart. Probably feels good in the Dice office after two years of work to polish the game to a state that the players accept.
Although nothing new Battlefield is presented, hints from EA and Dice have made it clear that it will come in some form. When, where and how is unknown, but it will be done in collaboration with several studios, including a new one that opened its doors in Gothenburg last fall.
Next BF will in any case be the first without veteran Lars Gustavsson’s participation – he left Dice last year, and with his new team TTK Games will make “the next generation online shooter”
