In an investor meeting, EA chief Andrew Wilson says that the next Battlefield game will be appears in earnest in June. The announcement comes in the wake of the Battlefield series’ Twitter account hinting that something is on the way.
In addition, Wilson says that the game comes to both the latest consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S, but also to the previous console generation. The same goes for the next FIFA and other sports games.

Still, Wilson says the games are designed with the latest consoles in mind.
– In the case of Battlefield, this will affect what we can do when it comes to the amount of players we have in the game, as well as how destruction in the way that only happens in Battlefield moments. These are really opportunities made possible by the new consoles, due to the stronger processing power of memory and output in the new consoles, says Wilson.
The Battlefield unveiling happens interestingly enough thus one month before EA’s own planned game event for the summer. On July 22, the company will have an EA Play Live presentation that replaces the regular E3-focused presentation that they have conducted in June in recent years.
Battlefield 6, or whatever the game ends up being called, is the first feature in the series since Battlefield V in 2018. There has been little information so far, but we know the developers Aiming for large maps and more simultaneous players than before. The game is due sometime before April 2022.
On the developer side are several game studios: DICE, DICE Los Angeles, Criterion and EA Götheborg. The fact that Criterion is helping here also means that the next Need for Speed game will not come until 2022.
Battlefield V is among the games PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive in May.
