After the latest game update, the Electronic Arts team announced that Battlefield 2042 will not be getting new content.
Battlefield 2042 will no longer have major content updates
The news was given by Ryan McArthur, senior producer and Lars Gustavsson, the game’s creative director, both say that Hazard Zone, the game’s battle royale mode, will not receive new content.
The announcement was made on the Battlefield Briefing blog, where it was clarified that Hazard Zone was a way to restore community trust after the sad launch of the game last year, and that now the focus will be on ensuring support for standard multiplayer and modes. Portal with retro maps.
In the release the dev team wrote:
One last bit of news for you to take away from today’s video — we’re wrapping up future development on Hazard Zone. All of us on the team had high ambition and high hopes for this new experience throughout development, but we are the first to raise our hands and recognize that [ela] didn’t find the right home in Battlefield 2042 and that you will benefit greatly from letting our focus and energy remain in the ways we most see the community engaging.
And despite the lack of new content Hazard Zone will not be excluded from the game:
Hazard Zone will remain part of the experience, we will not be deactivating it, but in addition to addressing critical bugs and strange behavior that may appear in the future, we will no longer be actively developing new experiences or content for the mode.
