Battlefield 2042 players can’t fend off AI soldiers in 128 player mode – Gaming – News

Battlefield 2042 owners will not be opted out to avoid getting into rounds with computer controlled players. This is the All-Out Warfare mode, which revolves around battles for up to 128 players.

On a Battlefield 2042 questions and answers page inform publisher Electronic Arts that no such opt-out will be in place. AI players are used to fill the servers, but there is a limit to the number of computer-controlled fellow and opponents who will participate in a multiplayer round. EA won’t give exact numbers, but says players will generally not encounter more AI players than human players unless the round has yet to be filled or the server is running low.

Player will always be prioritized in favor of the AI. That means, for example, if there are 120 flesh-and-blood players present, eight AI players will be added to help keep the two teams even. When a player leaves the round, another AI player will temporarily fill this gap until a new player joins.

EA says the bots help perpetuate the chaos of All-Out Warfare and solve problems with the matchmaking to prevent. Bots are also available in the present solo mode, but Battlefield 2042 remains an online game even then. An offline mode is therefore not an issue.

The publisher goes on to say that it has received a lot of questions about crossplay. EA says this is a feature it’s looking to build into and test for Battlefield 2042. Specifically, the company has moved the Technical Playtest to an unspecified later this summer. That means that crossplay will also be part of that test. Only a few thousand participants will be able to participate. This test will not yet provide a full experience and is purely intended to test a number of features, where it is all about technical performance. Participation in this test does not appear to be through logins; EA says it will approach players itself.

The technical play test will involve playing on PC, Xbox Series S and X, and PlayStation 5 to test the cross-play functionality between these platforms. Ultimately, both PC and console players will be given the option to avoid having to play with each other. That can level the playing field a bit, as PC players may well have a competitive advantage. At the same time, for example, in a game like Call of Duty: Warzone, there are many complaints about cheaters among PC players; console gamers can probably shut themselves off from that in Battlefield 2042. There will also be crossplay between the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, according to EA.

Battlefield 2042 will be released on October 22. The first images appeared a month ago. The basis of the game is the 128-player All Out Warfare mode. This includes game modes such as Conquest and Breakthrough. The shooter from developer Dice will not contain a battle royale and will also have a second and third pillar in addition to All Out Warfare. Tweakers previously wrote a preview van Battlefield 2042.
