Although Battlefield 2042 has made a good debut, it is experiencing a decrease in the number of players due to performance issues, experience point progression and the amount of content available. According to industry veteran Tom Henderson, Electronic Arts was extremely disappointed with the game’s performance and is therefore considering integrating some kind of free-to-play model into Battlefield 2042.
According to the news shared by GameSpotIn his tweet on this subject, Tom Henderson stated that Electronics Arts has considered all the options related to Battlefield 2042, and that the free-to-play model is among these options.
EA is reportedly very disappointed with how Battlefield 2042 has performed and is “looking at all the options” when it comes to the title, this is including looking at Free to Play in some capacity.

In addition, it is worth noting that although Battlefield 2042 is the fifth best-selling game in the US of 2021, Electronic Arts still insists on not making a statement about the game’s net sales figures and the number of active players.
However, this week, the game’s 3.2 update was released to players, and with this update, a revamped leaderboard UI that players have been requesting since the game’s launch has been added to the game. Additionally, Battlefield 2042 players can now enter a community-created mode called “Zombie Survival” and battle against hordes of the undead until January 27.
