With everything that has been happening since the beginning of the summer in the sports department of Greek radio and television, the only thing that is certain is that everything regarding managerial positions or positions of supervisors is up in the air, while scripts and leaks are raging.
“You go, you come”
TV sports programs, broadcasts, ERA Sports are on a war footing with “you go, you come” practices. Lycophilias, temporary alliances, backbiting, piggy banks, truths and lies, mutual accusations, hatred, passions and intrigues make up the scene in the sports section of ERT, which all Greek taxpayers pay for. And since the management of ERT changes, the scenarios, true or not, give and take, mainly through leaks, according to which most sports editors have been divided into two camps and depending on who has the upper hand and does commando activates his… own children and marginalizes them… opposite.
The whole atmosphere was triggered by the decision of ERT managing director Katerina Kaskaniotis – typically temporary, as there is a competition for the position, which most consider sham – to appoint Vangelis Ioannou as her adviser on sports matters. The discredit of “Sports Sunday”
At a time when the war is raging for who will have the upper hand in the sports events of ERT, the managers of the channel are single-handedly discrediting the most historic sports show on Greek television, “Sports Sunday”. And they discredit it with the constant changes of central presenters and – many times – broadcast time. According to what has already become known, the previous main presenter of the show, Vassilis Bakopoulos, has left and Petros Mavrogiannidis has taken his place. Bakopoulos has reportedly requested to be transferred to ERA Sport because he wants to work on Action24 TV! And how is it possible to work in both public and private television? At ERT, a provision has been passed a long time ago according to which if you want to work on a private channel, it is enough to transfer from television to ERA Sport, which is radio and is therefore not considered a competitive medium!
