ACCEPTANCE – War breaks out in the Panjshir valley between the troops Taliban and opposition fighters on Monday night (30/8). The information was disclosed by representatives of the main anti-Taliban opposition group.

Since the fall of Kabul on August 15, Panjshir has been the only province to hold out against the Taliban. However, there has also been fighting in neighboring Baghlan province between the Taliban and local militia forces.

National Resistance Forces (NRF) spokesman Fahim Dashti loyal to local leader Ahmad Massoud said fighting took place at the western entrance to the Panjshir valley, as the Taliban attacked NRF positions.

“The Taliban attack was repelled until eight Taliban militiamen were killed and the same number injured, while two members of the NRF forces were injured,” Dashti said in a statement.
