Four hours and ten minutes. That’s the time that two Agropoli residentsand 20 year old young man and one 52 year old womanthey spent uselessly inside a118 nursing ambulance stopped at the doors of the emergency room of theHospital of Santa Maria della Speranza Of Battipaglia. In the middle, once again, there is the obsolete CT machine dating back to 2008, the one that should be replaced with an expensive device purchased more than three years ago at the cost of 700 thousand euros and has since been parked in the warehouse of the company that produced it, because if it were installed the floor underneath would sink.

The unexpected

Last Monday the sixteen-year-old device was broken: a custom in via Fiorignano. The hospital had alerted the operations center. Yesterday, early in the morning, the machine was repaired: at 8 it started working again, but for a very short time. By lunchtime it was already broken. The two people from Agropoli paid the price, and shortly after 1 pm they were involved in a road accident: a Fiat and one Ford they collided along the State Road 18 near Crisis sweeperin the municipal territory of BattipagliaFour people were injured, none seriously.

Two 118 ambulances arrived on site: the occupants of a car were taken to the Roars of Salerno and in a short time they were examined and released. The two men from Agropoli, however, had the unfortunate fate (on the instructions of the operations center) of being taken to Santa Maria della Speranza. The young man had a suspected fracture of the nasal septum and a head injury, the woman felt a strong pain in her knee. At 13:50 the two went through the reception: they underwent triage and were sent back on board the ambulance.
